This week in the library we’re fortunate to have students giving their Junior speeches. Although we think about this as a practice for the Senior speech, these speeches are the REAL deal–moving, funny, serious, charming, playful–all the qualities we’ve come to expect from students.
The Octagon and the Sandbox are the perfect venues for the speeches. We’re comfortable, relaxed in those open, engaging spaces–the perfect place to hear the speeches and learn about each other.
Thanks for so graciously pulling us into these wonderful spaces, Allen. It’s nice to jump out of the classrooms and into spaces that begin to make the kids realize that a speech to a bigger and broader audience is indeed a different thing than simply speaking in the more closed space of our classrooms.
